Twenty Plus One (21) Drinking Game

21, or sometimes known as Twenty Plus One, is a counting drinking game that doesn’t require anything special. Everyone counts to twenty one and the last person has to drink. This can be a great way to have fun when you’re out somewhere and want to play a game without props.

To play 21, sit in a circle with your friends. The more people the better to make it more interesting but you can still have a fun time with 2 or 3 people.

Choose someone to go first and start counting with number 1. The next person on their left says 2. Continue around the circle with each person incrementing by 1 until someone reaches 21.

That person must drink and gets to come up with a new rule for the next round. They can choose anything, like skipping a number or talking with a pirate accent. They then restart the next round by starting the counting at 1.

Play continues around the circle using the new rule and the last person to say 21 has to drink. As you play more rounds and add new rules, it’ll get more complicated. If anyone does not follow a rule, they have to drink!

• Sit in a circle and choose someone to go first. They will start counting by saying the number 1.
• The next player on their left continues counting by saying 2.
• Continue around the circle until the last person gets to 21. This person has to drink and the round is over.
• The player who just drank gets to restart the next round by starting at 1 again. However, before they start, they can make a new rule. The rule can be skipping a certain number, acting something out, counting by 3’s, or anything else you can think of.
• Any time someone gets to 21, they must drink and then create a new rule to add to the next round.
• If anyone forgets a rule or messes it up, they must drink.
• Continue playing rounds until you can’t get to 21 anymore or can’t remember all of the rules!
