King’s Cup is a fun and fast-paced drinking game that you can customize to your own friends. You might also know this game as Ring of Fire, Circle of Death, or Waterfall, but it’s all the same fun game.
The goal of the game is for each player to draw a card in order and then perform a corresponding action for that card. For example, if you draw a 3 card, the action is “Me”. This means that you would have to drink. Continue around the circle until you have drawn all the cards.

King’s Cup Rules
To start, pour some beer into a shared cup that sits in the middle of the table. Shuffle a deck of cards and then lay them face-down around the cup in a circle.
Have all the players sit in a circle around the cup and cards. Decide who will go first and then proceed clockwise once they are done with their action.
Each player will draw a card and then do what the card tells them to do. Below are the most common rules for King’s Cup but you can also make up your own rules.
King’s Cup Card Rules
- Ace – Waterfall. Everyone in the game must drink, beginning with the player that picked the card and only stopping until the person before you stops drinking.
- Two – You. The player must pick someone else to drink.
- Three – Me. The player that picks it must take a drink.
- Four – Rules. Each player must create a unique dance move. The player who doesn’t or is unable to must drink.
- Five – Guys. All males drink.
- Six – Chicks. All females drink.
- Seven – Heaven. All players must put their hand up. The last player to raise their hand all the way up must drink.
- Eight – Mate. The player must find and select a drinking buddy from the other players. Each time they are forced to drink, the drinking buddy must also drink. Additionally, players can opt not to drink each time they are selected to drink.
- Nine – Rhyme. The player that picks this number must come up with a word. Everybody else should find a word that rhymes with the said word. For instance, the word told would rhyme with bold, fold, etc. The one who fails to come up with a rhyming word must drink.
- Ten – Categories. The player must say the name of a category. Other players must come up with names in that category or drink. For instance, if the selected category is dogs, then goldens and labs are examples of names in that category.
- Jack – Never Have I Ever. The player must start a game of Never Have I Ever. The losers of this game must take a drink.
- Queen – Question Master. The player asks questions, and those who answer them must drink. This can continue to go on even beyond the question master’s turn.
- King – Pour some into the cup. If you pull a King card, pour some of your drink into the shared cup. The player who picks the last King card must drink the contents of the king’s cup.
King’s Cup Variations
There are many variations of King’s Cup and Ring of Fire that you can choose based on your preference.
- Ace – Waterfall. Everyone chugs and you can only stop when the person to your right stops.
- Two – You. The player must pick someone else to drink.
- Three – Me. The player that picks it must take a drink.
- Four – Whores. All the players that identify as female must drink.
- Five – Slap. The last person to slap the table drinks.
- Six – Dicks. All the players that identify as male must drink.
- Seven – Thumbmaster. You become the Thumbmaster for the duration of the game. You may place your thumb on the edge of the table at any time and the last person to do the same must drink.
- Eight – Category. The player selects a category and the last person to be able to name something within that category must drink.
- Nine – Rhyme. The player that picks this number must come up with a word. Everybody else should find a word that rhymes with the said word. For instance, the word told would rhyme with bold, fold, etc. The one who fails to come up with a rhyming word must drink.
- Ten – Social. Everyone drinks!
- Jack – Rule. The player makes a rule that stays in effect throughout the game. If someone breaks the rule at an time, they must drink.
- Queen – Question. The player asks questions, and those who answer them must drink. This can continue to go on even beyond the question master’s turn.
- King – King’s Cup. If you pull a King card, pour some of your drink into the shared cup. The player who picks the last King card must drink the contents of the king’s cup.
