Medusa Drinking Game

Medusa is a drinking game that has a pretty simple premise. If you make eye contact with another player, you have to shout “Medusa!” and both drink.

This can be a fun way to start the night and to get everyone ready to go out. A few quick rounds can get everyone feeling good and ready to play a more extensive game, like King’s Cup, or a funny game, like Straight Face.

Start by gathering as many shot glasses as you can and filling them with your favorite liquor. Place them on the table and then have everyone gather around it.

The players start by having their heads bowed and eyes staring at the floor or table. Someone should count down from three to one and then everyone looks up at someone else. If any two players are looking at each other in the eye, the shout “Medusa!” and then they both take a shot.

Reset and keep playing until all the shots are gone.

Number of Players: 4 or more

• Shot glasses with your favorite liquor – as many as you can find
• A group of friends

Medusa Drinking Game Rules

• Get as many shot glasses as you can and fill them with your favorite alcohol.
• Have the players sit or stand in a circle with their eyes facing down.
• Someone counts down from three to one.
• One the count of one, everyone looks up and at another player of their choice.
• If two players are looking at each other in the eyes, they shout “Medusa!” and they both take a shot.
• All other players are safe and do not need to drink.
• Everyone resets by looking at the floor and then play continues until all the shot glasses are gone.

Medusa Variations

One variation of playing Medusa as a drinking game is that you do not need to use shot glasses. As long as everyone has their own drinks in their hands, they can drink from that.

You can also make different rules, like they need to drink 5 times or they must chug their beer. If you don’t have a ton of shot glasses, you can get creative with how to drink. The basic premise is that anyone looking at each other in the eye at the end of the round loses and must drink.
